Job Description
Position: Facility Maintenance and Repair Manager/Project Manager
Location: Maputo – Matutuine
Reporting to: Plant Management
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair:
Oversee and manage all repair work on buildings, including, e.g., roof repairs, paving, drainage systems, staff accommodations, offices, canteen and sanitary facilities.
Ensure all structural facilities are in excellent working condition and meet operational requirements.
Project Management:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise major construction projects.
Develop maintenance and construction schedules and manage associated budgets.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and external contractors to execute projects efficiently.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a small team of technical staff and construction workers.
Train and develop the team in relevant aspects of building maintenance and repair.
Procurement and Resource Management:
Procure construction materials, tools, and equipment required for maintenance and projects.
Manage inventory and ensure the availability of essential resources.
Government Liaison:
Maintain communication with local authorities to secure permits and ensure compliance with legal requirements for construction projects.
Ensure adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Energy and Electrical Infrastructure:
Monitor and ensure the functionality of electrical systems and the overall power supply for the factory and administrative & residential facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a similar technical field.
Proven experience in construction maintenance and project management, ideally in an industrial setting.
Hands-on expertise and attitude.
Leadership experience and ability to manage and motivate a team.
Familiarity with local building codes and experience liaising with government authorities.
Proficiency in English; Portuguese language skills are an advantage.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
